Spring Poetry series Friday May 10th in the store

Nearly every year we have hosted a Spring Poetry series that features poets from all across Connecticut. I think most of you know our fondness for poetry in all it's forms and we are happy to end the series on Friday May 10th at 7pm.. The books for each poet are listed below- feel free to order them for signing.

The May 10th poets at 7pm are:

Barbara Jennes (B. Fulton Jennes) is an award-winning poet whose work has appeared widely in literary journals and anthologies, Her poems have appeared widely in literary journals and anthologies, including CALYX, Comstock Review, Rust and Moth, SWWIM, and Tupelo Quarterly. In 2022, Jennes’ poem “Glyphs of a Gentle Going” won the Lascaux Prize; another poem, “Father to Son,” won the 2023 New Millennium Award. Her collection Blinded Birds (Finishing Line Press) received the 2022 International Book Award for a poetry chapbook. FLOWN—an elegy-in-verse to her late sister—will be published by Porkbelly Press in April 2024. Jennes is poet laureate emerita of Ridgefield, CT. She hosts many workshops and readings, both on-line and in person.

Kateri Kosek is the winner of the 6th annual Three Mile Harbor Poetry Prize, . Her poetry and essays have appeared in such places as Orion, Terrain, Catamaran, Rosebud, Southern Poetry Review and Northern Woodlands Magazine, and have won prizes at Creative Nonfiction and Briarcliff Review. She teaches English and mentors in the MFA Program at Western Connecticut State University. She has also worked seasonally surveying the bird populations in the forests and mountains near her home in the Massachusetts Berkshires. Frequently writing about landscape and place, she has been a resident at the Kimball Harding Nelson Center for the Arts and the Tallgrass Artist Residency in Kansas. A winner in the Split Rock Poetry Chapbook Series, AMERICAN ECLIPSE (Three Mile Harbor Press, 2023) is her first full-length collection.

Sydney Eddison lives in a yellow farmhouse surrounded by a 2-1/2-acre garden of her own creation in Newtown, Connecticut. Her articles have appeared in such publications as FINE GARDENING and HORTICULTURE, and she is the award-winning author of seven books on gardening, including GARDENING FOR A LIFETIME, A PASSION FOR DAYLILIES, and A PATCHWORK GARDEN. Her newest book, The Sacred Ground of Home: Poems from a country life, will be available at the event.
